At the start

Nibali moves up to second

The Mortirolo did what the Gavia never got the chance to: Nibali is second now at 1:47 and Roglič has slipped to third at 2:09, with Carapaz still calmly in pink. Giulio Ciccone won the stage and keeps the blue jersey. Today is 181 kilometres through the Dolomites to a summit finish at Anterselva — not a monstrous climb, but the fourth hard day in five, and the legs are the real parcours now.

   Ineos chase to save Sivakov

   A huge break is up the road with the dangerous Formolo in it; over Terento, Ineos throw riders into the chase to protect Pavel Sivakov's overall place.

2. 216 km to go

   Nans Peters flies

   With 16km to go Nans Peters jumps from the break, and a lack of cohesion behind lets the Frenchman quickly build a commanding lead toward his first professional win.

3. 33 km to go

   Nibali's off-day

   Inside 3km on the climb to Anterselva, Landa attacks, then López drags Carapaz clear; a weary Nibali has no response, leaning on Pozzovivo just to limit the damage.

4. 4At the line

   Peters wins at Anterselva

   Nans Peters holds 1:34 to the summit for a maiden win, Chaves second; Formolo takes bonus seconds and vaults into the top ten.
