The flattest day, down to the sea
Monte Bondone finally broke the stalemate: Geraint Thomas has the maglia rosa back, João Almeida 18 seconds behind, and Primož Roglič dropped inside the last five kilometres to sit third at 29. Ineos lost Pavel Sivakov on that same climb, a second man out of their race. Today is the flattest stage of this Giro — 197 kilometres downhill from Pergine Valsugana to the Adriatic at Caorle, 523 metres of climbing in all.

A day off from the mountains
On a rare gentle, downhill day a small four-man break is allowed up the road and kept firmly on a leash all the way to the coast.

On the corner-heavy run-in DSM set it up but Alberto Dainese has to freelance, sprinting into Matthews' slipstream to edge him and Milan in a tight finish.
