The road
At the start
La Doyenne, and no one has an answer
Liège, 252 kilometres and 4,300 metres of Ardennes climbing. Tadej Pogačar arrives off ten seconds of daylight at Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday, and has won La Doyenne twice — the last time by attacking La Redoute with 34 kilometres to go, which every rider here remembers. Remco Evenepoel, a two-time winner still rebuilding from a winter collision, is the man expected to stop him.

On the Ardennes' most storied wall Pogačar stamps on the pedals, and the race is effectively over in an instant. No rider in the world can match the acceleration; he is gone.

The chase falls apart
Behind, the pursuers glance at one another and refuse to commit. Every hesitation hands Pogačar another ten seconds on the road back toward Liège.

Roche-aux-Faucons
Over the final categorised climb Pogačar's lead has ballooned past a minute. The only question left is who wins the sprint for the minor places.

Pogačar rolls in for a third La Doyenne, arms wide. Giulio Ciccone takes the bunch kick for second at over a minute, Ben Healy third.
