1. 18 km to go

   Stuyven goes for glory

   As the break slows on the Côte d'Octeville, Jasper Stuyven blasts away from his two companions on the uncategorised climb and crests it with 7.5km left and still more than 90 seconds in hand.

2. 26 km to go

   Porte's puncture

   Six kilometres from Cherbourg, Richie Porte punctures and then waits on a painfully slow rear wheel from neutral service. He will lose almost two minutes on a day nobody expected to cost him anything.

3. 32 km to go

   Caught on La Glacerie

   Two thousand metres from unexpected glory, Stuyven hits the Côte de la Glacerie with a minute — and Kreuziger's Tinkoff train hunts him down on the ramp. He crests with barely anything left.

4. 4At the line

   Sagan takes yellow in Cherbourg

   Alaphilippe opens the sprint on the 700-metre drag to the line and Peter Sagan comes past him at the very last, Valverde third. The bonus seconds put the world champion in yellow; Contador, on the deck for a second day, gives up 48 more.
