At the start

Marseille, and three podium places

Edvald Boasson Hagen soloed into Salon-de-Provence and the top three are still inside half a minute: Froome leads Bardet by 23 seconds and Urán by 29, with Landa at 1:36 and Aru at 1:55. Today is 22.7 kilometres starting and finishing in the Stade Vélodrome, with the wall up to Notre-Dame de la Garde at nine and a half per cent in the middle of it. Everything below the top step is unresolved.

How it was won

  1. 12 km to go

The wall to Notre-Dame de la Garde

Midway through the Marseille time trial, the viciously steep 9.5% climb to Notre-Dame de la Garde is where the stage is won and lost.

  2. 3 km to go

    Urán saves his podium

Rigoberto Urán almost throws it away, sliding to a stop against the barriers in a tight left-hander, but recovers to leapfrog Bardet into second overall.

  3. At the line

    Froome seals the Tour

Maciej Bodnar wins his first Grand Tour stage in the Stade Vélodrome, while Froome’s smooth ride extends his lead to 54 seconds and Bardet clings to third overall by a single second.
