At the start

Sønderborg, and the last of Denmark

Wout van Aert took the bonus seconds in Nyborg and has yellow by a single second from Yves Lampaert, with Tadej Pogačar eight back. Fabio Jakobsen won the sprint there. Mads Pedersen and Magnus Cort are still chasing a Danish stage on Danish roads, and today is the last of them: 182 kilometres through southern Jutland, three small climbs, and a ring road into Sønderborg built for a sprint train.

How it was won

  1. 59 km to go

Cort mops up the last Danish hill

Magnus Cort, alone off the front all day in front of enormous home crowds, takes the third climb of the stage to move his mountains tally to six. Shortly afterwards he sits up and the polka dots ride back into the bunch.

  2. 12 km to go

A narrowing road catches the GC men

Rain spots the tarmac and the road pinches; a spill rips through the middle of the peloton. Nobody is badly hurt, but Haig, Urán and Woods all lose over half a minute they will not get back.

  3. At the line

    Groenewegen by centimetres in Sonderborg

Four riders throw their bikes at the line together. Dylan Groenewegen takes it from Van Aert by the width of a tyre, with Philipsen third and Sagan fourth — a photo finish to close the Grand Depart.
