At the start

The green jersey starts early

Nothing in the general classification moved in Lleida: Antón leads Nibali by 45 seconds, Tondo by 1:04 and Rodríguez by 1:17. The interest today is behind them. Mark Cavendish took the points lead yesterday and holds it by nine, and the first intermediate sprint of these 202 kilometres to Burgos arrives after eight and a half of them. The plateau beyond is wide open to the wind.

How it was won

  1. 193 km to go

    The sprint that mattered

The first intermediate sprint arrives 8.4 kilometres in and Farrar takes it from Weylandt and Cavendish, cutting the Manxman's lead in the points classification from nine to six. Then everyone settles down for 190 kilometres of chasing.

  2. At the line

    Two in a row

Katusha lead into the last turn, Goss takes over on the long straight, and Cavendish comes off his wheel again for a second win in two days. He bunny-hops the line on the way through, and extends his hold on the green jersey.
