Carapaz threw everything he had at La Covatilla and took 21 seconds out of Roglič; it leaves him 24 short with nothing but the road to Madrid to come. Hugh Carthy is third at 47 seconds, the whole podium inside a minute. Today is 140 kilometres from the Zarzuela racecourse into the city-centre laps, where the sprinters get the last word of the strangest season anyone can remember.
