At the start

A time trial to finish, on the Gran Vía

Eddie Dunbar took the queen stage while Red Bull came apart around their leader — Martínez, Gamper and Denz all lost in a day — and Roglič still came off Picón Blanco in red, 2:02 up on Ben O'Connor and 2:11 on Enric Mas. The Vuelta ends against the clock rather than in a sprint: 23 flat kilometres through Madrid, past the Plaza de Cibeles, to the Gran Vía. A fourth title would equal the all-time record.

   Küng scorches the Castellana

   On the flat Madrid course Stefan Küng flies, catching his minute-man and stretching his advantage past 40 seconds by the second checkpoint.

   Roglič seals a fourth Vuelta

   Küng holds on for a first-ever Grand Tour stage win, while second-placed Roglič completes a fourth Vuelta title; O'Connor defends second, Mas takes a familiar third.
