The one individual time trial of this Vuelta was 27 kilometres when the riders woke up; it is twelve by the time the first ramp goes, shortened as the organisers brace for more protests in Valladolid. Jonas Vingegaard leads João Almeida by 50 seconds, and the Portuguese is the better man against a clock — but half a course is half a chance.
