The road

At the start

Monte Grappa, and a 38-second race

Piancavallo took the pink jersey off Tom Dumoulin: Nairo Quintana leads him by 38 seconds, with Nibali at 43 and Pinot at 53. Today is the last mountain stage — the wall of Ca' del Poggio early, then Monte Grappa, then the climb to Foza with thirteen kilometres to go and a long descent after it. Sunday's time trial into Milan hangs over all of it: whatever Quintana and Nibali want, they take it here.

1. 1151 km to go

   Fireworks on Ca’ del Poggio

   Early aggression on the steep Muro di Ca’ del Poggio sets an explosive tone for the final mountain stage.

2. 265 km to go

   Over the legendary Grappa

   On the mighty Monte Grappa the tension rises as Nibali’s Bahrain team try to isolate the maglia rosa.

3. 313 km to go

   Attacks on the Foza

   Zakarin and Pozzovivo attack on the final climb to Foza, but Nibali and Quintana watch only each other, and Dumoulin holds firm behind.

4. 48 km to go

   Back together

   The leaders are caught on the long descent with 10km to go, the elastic snapping back for a sprint finish.

5. 5At the line

   Pinot wins, Quintana holds

   Thibaut Pinot takes the sprint in Asiago from Zakarin and Nibali, while Quintana carries a slim 53-second lead over Dumoulin into the final-day time trial.
