   Dumoulin isolated again

   A split on the long descent from the day’s second climb briefly leaves Dumoulin exposed once more, echoes of the nature-break controversy hanging over the race.

2. 232 km to go

   Reshuffle before the wall

   The breakaway regroups near Maniago before the brutal final climb to Piancavallo.

3. 316 km to go

   Dumoulin cracks

   Movistar detonate the maglia rosa group on the lower Piancavallo; twice Dumoulin fights back, but the third acceleration finally distances him for good.

4. 48 km to go

   Pinot’s best move

   Thibaut Pinot attacks with 7.5km to go, his best effort of the race, cutting through the remnants of the break.

5. 53 km to go

   Landa hunts them down

   Up front Landa catches and passes a tiring Sánchez and Costa, riding clear toward the win.

6. 6At the line

   Landa wins, Quintana in pink

   Mikel Landa finally lands his stage win at Piancavallo, while Quintana seizes the maglia rosa as Dumoulin loses over a minute.
