How it was won

  1. 14 km to go

    Mohorič jumps early

Matej Mohorič attacks from the break with 13.5km to go on the long drag of Montevergine, shedding the last escapees but soon caught himself.

  2. 7 km to go

    Geniez sparks the winning move

As the break is swallowed late, Alexandre Geniez rides away in pursuit of lone leader Bouwman, and the counters begin to fly from the peloton.

  3. At the line

    Carapaz makes history

Richard Carapaz flies past inside the final kilometre to become the first Ecuadorian to win a Grand Tour stage, while Froome slides out on a wet hairpin and has to chase back.
