Evenepoel in pink, and a flat coast
Remco Evenepoel wears the first maglia rosa, 22 seconds up on Filippo Ganna and 43 on Primož Roglič. Today the race runs 203 kilometres down the Adriatic from Teramo to San Salvo: a climb out of town and two more for the breakaway to squabble over, then seventy flat, exposed kilometres where the sprinters take charge. Jonathan Milan, twenty-two and Italian, has never won a Grand Tour stage.
