Jonathan Milan's third win of the Giro changed nothing at the top: Pogačar leads Daniel Martínez by 2:40 and Geraint Thomas by 2:56, the two of them sixteen seconds apart. Today there is no climb to hide behind — 31.2 kilometres of fast, twisting road to the shore of Lake Garda at Desenzano — and Filippo Ganna, beaten by the maglia rosa in Perugia, has waited a week for it. Tomorrow is the queen stage.

   Ganna in his element

   On the pancake-flat run to Lake Garda Ganna turns a four-second deficit into a ten-second lead by the second check, powering toward home at over 53kph.

   Ganna wins at Desenzano

   Ganna beats Pogačar by 29 seconds for an emotional home win, while behind him Thomas edges Martínez to seize second overall.
