The Pisa time trial cut Isaac del Toro's lead over Juan Ayuso to twenty-five seconds, and UAE now hold four of the top seven places in their own race. Today the Apennines come back: 186 kilometres and 3,800 metres of climbing over the Alpe San Pellegrino, whose ramps touch twenty per cent — the steepest road in this Giro.
