The road
At the start
The longest day, to Naples
227 kilometres, the longest stage of this Giro, from Potenza down to Naples, with 2,500 metres of climbing to wear the legs out first. Mads Pedersen still leads Primož Roglič by seventeen seconds. The finishing circuits along the bay are narrow, technical and fast — a day nobody can win the race on, and anybody can lose it on.
How it was won
- 77 km to go
Race neutralised
Wet, greasy roads and a string of crashes force the organisers to neutralise the GC times on the chaotic run toward Naples.
- At the line
Groves wins the chaos
Kaden Groves comes through the carnage to win the messy sprint.
