At the start

Martin gone, Froome inherits yellow

Tony Martin crossed the line in Le Havre with a fractured collarbone and does not start; the yellow jersey passes to Chris Froome without his having raced anyone for it. Greg Henderson goes home too. Today is the flattest and quietest day of the race — 190 kilometres through Normandy into Brittany, fifty points to the winner, and quite possibly the last bunch sprint before Paris.

How it was won

  1. 124 km to go

    Argentan sprint

Maté takes the maximum points from the break, and behind him Degenkolb comes out on top of a fierce fight while Cavendish has to swerve around a fading lead-out man.

  2. At the line

    Cavendish's 26th

After going too early twice already this Tour, Cavendish waits, comes off Greipel's wheel and scorches past on the inside in Fougères. He dedicates it to Tony Martin, watching from a hospital bed.
