   Contador turns back the clock

   On the Col de la Croix de Fer, Alberto Contador attacks like the champion of old, dragging himself across toward the breakaway on a lone mission.

2. 251 km to go

   Closing on the Télégraphe

   The thinning peloton meticulously reels the leaders back as the race climbs the Télégraphe toward the giant Galibier.

3. 328 km to go

   Roglič breaks free

   With 35km to go Primož Roglič finally slips clear on the roof of the Tour, the Col du Galibier, as Contador pays for his earlier bravado.

4. 423 km to go

   Aru cracks at last

   Near the top of the Galibier, Bardet’s flurry of attacks finally distances Fabio Aru, who labours, chases, and then cracks for good, his yellow-jersey dream fading.

   Roglič’s first Tour win

   Primož Roglič glides down to Serre Chevalier to win alone by over a minute — a first Tour stage for the former ski-jumper — with Urán leading Froome’s group across.
