   Break reeled in

   Over the Côte d’Esmoulières the escapees’ lead tumbles below two minutes and BMC line it out, chasing a stage win for Richie Porte.

2. 22 km to go

   Aru springs the first blow

   With 2.3km of La Planche des Belles Filles remaining, Fabio Aru bursts out of the saddle and opens a gap the favourites cannot immediately close.

3. 32 km to go

   Froome drops the yellow jersey

   Froome counters 1.7km from the line, distancing his own race leader Geraint Thomas along with Quintana and Contador as the GC group splinters.

4. 41 km to go

   Martin’s Flèche kick

   Dan Martin uncorks his Flèche Wallonne punch on the savage final ramp, springing clear of the chase.

5. 5At the line

   Aru wins, Froome in yellow

   Fabio Aru celebrates his first Tour stage atop La Planche des Belles Filles, while Chris Froome rides in 20 seconds back to reclaim the maillot jaune on the race’s first summit finish.
