At the start

Down to the Rhône, and the sprinters

Geraint Thomas won on Alpe d'Huez in the yellow jersey, which no race leader had ever done, and leads Chris Froome by 1:39 and Tom Dumoulin by 1:50. The Alps emptied the race behind him: nine riders left it yesterday, Gaviria, Greipel, Groenewegen and Urán among them. Today is the way out of the Oisans to the Rhône, 169 kilometres to Valence, and a sixth chance for whoever is left with a sprint.

How it was won

  1. 110 km to go

    A four-man break

De Gendt, Schär, Claeys and Scully slip clear early and share the KOM points, but the sprinters' teams keep them on a short leash.

  2. At the line

    Sagan's third win

Waiting patiently, Sagan comes around Kristoff and Démare at the line in Valence for his third stage of the race.
