Alaphilippe has yellow back after a Saint-Étienne stage that Thomas De Gendt stole from under him and Pinot; Ciccone is twenty-three seconds down, Pinot fifty-three, Thomas 1:12, Bernal 1:16. It is the fourteenth of July, and the Tour finishes for the first time ever in Brioude, Romain Bardet's home town. The Mur d'Aurec comes too early to matter; the Côte de Saint-Just, thirteen out, will not.
