The road
At the start
Roglič at 57 seconds, one Alpine day left
The Col de la Loze cost Pogačar another seventeen seconds and, it looks like, the Tour: Roglič leads him by 57, with Miguel Ángel López third at 1:26 after winning up there. Pogačar has at least taken the polka-dot jersey. Today is the last day in the mountains — the Cormet de Roselend, the Saisies, the Aravis, and the gravel of the Plateau des Glières before the drop to La Roche-sur-Foron.
How it was won
- 84 km to go
The break over the Saisies
On the last day in the Alps a strong break clears the Col des Saisies, Ineos placing Kwiatkowski and Carapaz up the road as insurance and ambition.
- 57 km to go
Ineos light it up
Over the Col des Aravis, with 57km to go, Kwiatkowski and Carapaz drive clear together, an Ineos one-two forging an unassailable lead on the descent.
- 25 km to go
The pair ride away
Kwiatkowski and Carapaz work in perfect harmony through the final valleys, their advantage ballooning as the GC teams look at one another.
- At the line
Kwiatkowski leads home Carapaz
In La Roche-sur-Foron Kwiatkowski sits up to salute and lets Carapaz take the line honours behind him, a poignant Ineos one-two after a chastening Tour for the team.
