At the start

Pogačar loses a minute, the Pyrenees wait

The crosswinds into Lavaur cost Tadej Pogačar over a minute and put him out of the top eight; Adam Yates still leads by three seconds from Roglič, with Guillaume Martin third. Today the Tour reaches its third mountain range in eight days, and does it in 141 kilometres — the shortest road stage of the race, over the Col de Menté, the first hors catégorie climb on the Port de Balès, then the Peyresourde.

How it was won

1. 182 km to go

   A strong break clears out

   Thirteen riders forge clear over the Col de Mente as the Pyrenees bite, the peloton content to let a non-threatening move take the day.

2. 241 km to go

   Pinot cracks early

   The first big GC shock: 41km from home Thibaut Pinot slips from the bunch clutching his back, his Tour hopes draining away on the road to Loudenvielle.

3. 337 km to go

   Peters attacks the Port de Bales

   Nans Peters and Ilnur Zakarin jump away on the Port de Bales, Peters then distancing the Russian on the descent to lead alone over the final climb.

4. 412 km to go

   Superteams unravel

   As Peters crosses the Peyresourde alone, the GC trains evaporate behind - only Jumbo-Visma keep two men, Roglič and Dumoulin, in the yellow jersey group.

5. 5At the line

   Peters soloes into Loudenvielle

   Nans Peters takes a superb solo win in Loudenvielle, 47 seconds clear, as the favourites watch each other on the descent behind.
