The road
At the start
Flat to Moulins, and a wind
Jonas Vingegaard still leads Tadej Pogačar by 17 seconds and Jai Hindley by 2:40; Pello Bilbao won yesterday and climbed to fifth. Today runs 180 kilometres from Clermont-Ferrand to Moulins, labelled flat but never quite flat, with gusty north-westerlies forecast and a sharp turn east that would put a cross-tailwind on the peloton at exactly the wrong moment.
How it was won
- 3 km to go
Rain into Moulins
The heavens open on a technical, roundabout-strewn run-in, and in the chaos Philipsen loses the wheel of his Alpecin train before the final corner.
- At the line
Moulins
Forced to freelance the last kilometre alone, Philipsen still opens the afterburners and powers clear of Groenewegen and Kristoff for a fourth win of the Tour.
