At the start

Joux Plane, and nine seconds

The Grand Colombier cut it to nine: Jonas Vingegaard still leads, Tadej Pogačar took four seconds and a bonus off him on the summit, and behind them Jai Hindley sits at 2:51. Today is 152 kilometres from Annemasse with five categorised climbs and 4,281 metres of climbing, ending on the Col de Joux Plane — 11.6 kilometres at 8.5 per cent — and a twelve-kilometre descent into Morzine.

How it was won

1. 140 km to go

   Col de la Ramaz

   The peloton slims to twenty on the Ramaz and Tom Pidcock is in trouble, losing touch with Buchmann as Van Aert takes up the pace.

2. 221 km to go

   Col de Joux Plane

   Rafał Majka detonates the fearsome Joux Plane, shedding all but a handful — then Van Aert sensationally rides back up to the front from a kilometre down.

3. 316 km to go

   Pogačar attacks

   Adam Yates peels off and Pogačar makes his move with 15.5km to go. Vingegaard cannot respond at once but refuses to cede real ground, holding the gap for 2km before clawing back.

4. 413 km to go

   Bonus at the summit

   After a tense cat-and-mouse near the top, Pogačar's move 500m out is boxed in by motorbikes — and Vingegaard blasts past him over the line for eight priceless bonus seconds.

5. 5At the line

   Morzine

   Carlos Rodríguez, having chased back on, drops flawlessly off the summit to a solo win; Vingegaard nets a second on Pogačar in a herculean day.
