At the start

Saint-Gervais, and ten seconds

A whole day of attack and counter-attack into Morzine moved the Tour by one second: Jonas Vingegaard leads Tadej Pogačar by ten, and now wears the mountains jersey as well. Seven riders abandoned yesterday, Romain Bardet among them. Today is 180 kilometres and 4,483 metres from Les Gets over the Forclaz, the Croix Fry and the Aravis to a seven-kilometre finishing climb at Saint-Gervais.

How it was won

  1. 11 km to go

    Poels breaks clear

On the brutal Côtes des Amerands, 11km from home, Wout Poels leaves Van Aert behind and crests 30 seconds clear, riding toward a first-ever Tour stage win.

  2. 5 km to go

    The GC group blows apart

At the 5km banner the favourites' group is torn open — Gaudu, Kuss and Rodríguez all dropped — leaving Pogačar and Vingegaard shadowed only by their last teammates.

  3. 1 km to go

    Pogačar jumps again

Pogačar attacks under the flamme rouge on the climb to Saint-Gervais, but Vingegaard is welded to his wheel and will not be shaken.

  4. At the line

    Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc

Poels wins alone for Bahrain; behind, the two title rivals cross the line together, utterly inseparable.
