The road
At the start
Poligny, and a lesson from yesterday
Kasper Asgreen beat the sprinters into Bourg-en-Bresse by a handful of metres, and today their teams will not leave it that late again. Nothing has moved on general classification: Jonas Vingegaard by 7:35 from Tadej Pogačar, Adam Yates third at 10:45. Today runs 173 kilometres past the Jura lakes to Poligny, with a category 4 climb after only twenty-four kilometres to make the fight for the break savage.
How it was won
- 65 km to go
Alpecin split the race
Philipsen and Van der Poel drive a huge split from the peloton that merges with the break to form a 36-rider group, a minute and a half clear.
- 32 km to go
The winning three
With 32km to go Asgreen, O'Connor and Mohorič jump clear, swallowing a flailing Campenaerts and stretching 30 seconds over the Philipsen chase.
- At the line
Poligny
The chase can't quite coordinate, and Matej Mohorič pips Asgreen in an astounding photo finish, denying the Dane a second win by millimetres.
