At the start

The Vosges, and Pinot's last mountains

The last mountain day of the race, and the last day Thibaut Pinot will ever ride the Tour's high country. Jonas Vingegaard leads by 7:35 with only the Champs-Élysées to come after this. Today is 133 kilometres out of Belfort over the Ballon d'Alsace, the Col de la Schlucht, the Petit Ballon and the Platzerwasel — six classified climbs and what Christian Prudhomme calls an Alsatian menu likely to cause indigestion.

How it was won

1. 125 km to go

   Pinot on the Petit Ballon

   On the Petit Ballon of his farewell Tour, Thibaut Pinot dances clear to delirious home crowds packing the 'virage Pinot', cresting 20 seconds up in a moment of pure emotion.

2. 215 km to go

   Ciccone seals the polka dots

   Giulio Ciccone snatches the decisive mountain points, all but securing the King of the Mountains jersey after a high-speed war through the Vosges.

3. 35 km to go

   Pogačar attacks Platzerwasel

   With 5km left to climb Pogačar attacks in a show of pride; Vingegaard jumps onto his wheel and, when he won't work, Felix Gall bridges across.

4. 4At the line

   Le Markstein

   The Yates brothers catch back on the plateau road, Simon leaping to fourth overall; up front Pogačar sprints to the stage win, pride restored after his Alpine collapse.
