At the start

The first race of truth, in Caen

Thirty-three flat kilometres around Caen, and the first day the clock tells the truth. Mathieu van der Poel holds yellow but Tadej Pogačar is level with him on the same time, Jonas Vingegaard eight seconds back. Remco Evenepoel starts as world time trial champion, ninth overall, and with more to win back today than anyone in the race.

   Evenepoel sets the mark

   At the time check Remco Evenepoel is in a class of his own, the world time trial champion laying down a benchmark nobody else can approach.

2. 27 km to go

   Pogačar rides into yellow

   Pogačar produces the time trial of his life among the GC men, taking back the seconds that matter and moving into the yellow jersey.

3. 32 km to go

   Van der Poel surrenders the lead

   Van der Poel cedes the jersey he fought for in the first days, the long flat test no place for the Classics king.

4. 4At the line

   Evenepoel wins the TT

   Evenepoel powers to a commanding stage win in Caen; Pogačar takes the yellow jersey.
