At the start

Madrid, and the Tour-Vuelta double

Alberto Contador won on the Angliru in the rain and Chris Froome came in alongside Nibali to make it safe: 2:15 on Nibali, 2:51 on Zakarin, 3:11 on Contador. David de la Cruz crashed out on the wet Cordal descent. Today rolls 117 kilometres from Arroyomolinos to three laps of the Puerta de Alcalá — the sprinters' last chance, and the seventy-third time Madrid has hosted the race.
