How it was won

  1. 35 km to go

    Sky gut the peloton

On the long Coll de la Rabassa, Sky’s ferocious tempo shreds the field and reels in the breakaway, shedding riders out the back.

  2. 15 km to go

    Contador cracks on day three

Caught out by Sky’s early surge, Alberto Contador loses contact and never returns, conceding 2:33 and, in his farewell race, ending his overall hopes almost before they began.

  3. 11 km to go

    Froome and Chaves fly

On the final climb of the Alto de la Comella, Froome and Chaves ride clear while Nibali briefly slips into trouble near the top.

  4. 5 km to go

    Daredevil descending

Aru and Bardet take huge risks on the drop off the Comella to rejoin Froome and Chaves for the run to the line.

  5. At the line

    Nibali wins in Andorra

Vincenzo Nibali times his jump perfectly inside the final kilometre to win in Andorra la Vella, while Froome’s bonus seconds move him into the red jersey.
