At the start

Windsurf country, and echelons

BMC won the team time trial and Rohan Dennis wears the first red jersey, five team-mates alongside him on the same time. Today runs 206 kilometres along the coastal lagoons and oyster beds towards Spain, flat as a table, finishing at Gruissan — a town that has hosted an international windsurfing festival for fifteen years. The organisers did not pick it for the oysters.

How it was won

  1. 32 km to go

    Splits in the crosswind

On the late climb and in the coastal crosswinds a small, dangerous group forms off the front.

  2. 10 km to go

    Lampaert jumps

Yves Lampaert attacks out of the group, backed by teammate Trentin, and opens a decisive gap.

  3. At the line

    Lampaert into red

Yves Lampaert holds on to win in Gruissan and pull on the overall lead.
