At the start

Roglič in red after one day

Roglič won on the Arrate and leads by five seconds from Richard Carapaz and seven from Dan Martin — the whole top eight inside twenty seconds after a single day of racing. Three riders abandoned on it. Today almost copies yesterday: out of Pamplona over the Guirguillano and the Urbasa, then a first-category climb to San Miguel de Aralar sixteen kilometres out and a descent to Lekunberri.

   Another demanding mountain day sees the break labour over the Puerto de Urbasa as the peloton keeps the GC men close on the Navarrese slopes.

   Selection on the Aralar

   The climb to San Miguel de Aralar thins the field to a select group, setting up a tense, tactical finale toward Lekunberri.

3. 33 km to go

   Soler attacks

   Marc Soler springs a late solo move from the select group, timing his acceleration perfectly to steal a march on the marking favourites.

   Soler holds on

   Soler holds his slender advantage to the line for a fine solo victory, the GC contenders finishing together behind.
