The road

At the start

Red for Estonia, and a flat road

Rein Taaramäe's raid on the Picón Blanco has handed Estonia a Grand Tour leader: 25 seconds on Elissonde, thirty on Roglič, who let the day go rather than chase it. Egan Bernal takes the white jersey. Today runs 164 kilometres to Molina de Aragón without a single categorised climb, so the sprinters get their second chance — the wind permitting.

   The red jersey goes down

   Caught too far back as the pace rises, Taaramäe hits the deck inside the final three kilometres. He is relatively unhurt, and the timing rule means he keeps the lead.

2. 2At the line

   Jakobsen returns

   On the slightly uphill drag to Molina de Aragón, Jakobsen forces his way onto Démare's wheel, holds his nerve, and comes through inside the last 80 metres. It is his first Grand Tour stage win since 2019 — and the first since the crash at the Tour de Pologne that nearly killed him.
