The road
At the start
The longest day, and a long climb
Michael Woods won alone on the Ancares, and behind him Roglič put 1:55 into Ben O'Connor: the red jersey leads by just 1:21. Today is the longest stage of the race, 199 kilometres and a third consecutive day in the mountains, but the only serious obstacle is the Puerto de Leitariegos — 22.8 kilometres at 4.5%, steady all the way — and it summits fifteen kilometres from a fast run into Villablino.
How it was won
- 20 km to go
Narváez animates the Leitariegos
Jhonatan Narváez attacks again and again off the front of the break on the long Puerto de Leitariegos, but the sprinters' teams reel him in near the top.
- At the line
Groves outdrags Van Aert
On the uphill drag to Villablino, Groves launches first and just holds off a lunging Van Aert in a man-to-man drag race for his second win of the race.
