The road
At the start
Out of Portugal, into a sprint
Kaden Groves won in Ourém, and Wout van Aert, second, took the red jersey off Brandon McNulty by three seconds. Dylan van Baarle crashed out. The last Portuguese stage is the hardest of the three on paper — the category 2 Alto de Teixeira after 84 kilometres, then rough ground on the plateau beyond — but the final forty into Castelo Branco are flat and fast, and the finish tilts gently upward.
How it was won

Campenaerts attacks the ramps
On the two 4% pitches inside the final 1.5km to Castelo Branco, Victor Campenaerts jumps for a late dig, forcing the sprint teams to chase hard.
- At the line
Van Aert wins in red
On the slight uphill drag the race leader Van Aert launches from Groves' wheel with 200 metres to go and holds it to the line for a stage win in the maillot rojo.
