Turin, and the Vuelta begins abroad again — three days in Italy before the race ever reaches Spain. Jonas Vingegaard comes as the Tour runner-up and the man everyone has to beat; João Almeida and Juan Ayuso lead a UAE team that has left Tadej Pogačar at home. The opening day is 188 flat kilometres and belongs to the sprinters, with Jasper Philipsen the fastest of them on paper.
