The road
At the start
To Tortona, where Coppi died
Fernando Gaviria took his third stage in Reggio Emilia and the points jersey is all but his; Dumoulin's lead over Quintana holds at 2:23. Geraint Thomas, whose race ended in the crash at the foot of Blockhaus, did not start this morning. The road to Tortona is as flat as the Giro gets — 338 metres of climbing in 167 kilometres — and it ends in the town where Fausto Coppi died of malaria at forty.
