At the start

A day borrowed from Lombardia

Tom Dumoulin won at Oropa after a mechanical dropped him to the back of the group, and leads Quintana by 2:47 and Pinot by 3:25, with Mollema slipping from third to sixth. Today copies the Tour of Lombardy: 199 kilometres east to Bergamo, the Miragolo San Salvatore and Selvino inside the last forty, then the climb through the walls of the citadel. The last day before the Alps, and no day for a sprinter.
