How it was won

  1. 100 km to go

    Chaves is cut adrift

When Quick-Step stop working with 100km to go, Mitchelton-Scott are put on the spot and eventually wave the chase off — and Esteban Chaves tumbles out of the GC, the gap ballooning to 25 minutes.

  2. 75 km to go

    Frapporti's lone raid

With 75km to go the break specialist Marco Frapporti sets off alone, adding to his tally in the fight for the most kilometres spent on the attack.

  3. 30 km to go

    Mohorič bridges on the climb

Villella and Mohorič bridge up to Frapporti on the gradual climb to Annifo and drop him on the steep final pitch as the rain begins to hammer down.

  4. At the line

    Mohorič wins the two-up sprint

Using his descending mastery on the soaked roads, Mohorič edges out a refusing-to-fold Nico Denz in Gualdo Tadino.
