The road
At the start
Chaves gone, Dumoulin at 41 seconds
Yesterday cost Esteban Chaves twenty-five minutes and his second place, so Simon Yates rolls out of Assisi with Tom Dumoulin his nearest rival at 41 seconds and Thibaut Pinot at 46. Today is short and lumpy — 156 kilometres across the Marche — and it ends on the steep, narrow climb into Osimo, the sort of finish where ten seconds change hands before anyone sees it coming.
