At the start

Roglič climbs back to second

San Marino put the race back in order: Roglič won the time trial and now sits second at 1:50, close enough that Conti's pink jersey has a clock on it. Simon Yates lost more than three minutes on that climb alone. After the rest day comes the flattest stage of the Giro — 145 kilometres across the plain to Modena, and nothing to think about but the sprint.

How it was won

  1. 1 km to go

    Ackermann crashes at the kite

Under the one-kilometre banner Selig checks up, Ackermann clips his wheel and slams down hard, skinsuit shredded, taking others with him and blowing the sprint apart.

  2. At the line

    Démare's first Giro win

From the surviving front group Arnaud Démare goes early on the left and holds off Viviani to take the first Giro stage victory of his career in Modena.
