At the start

Leknessund in pink, a sprint in Salerno

Andreas Leknessund rode into the maglia rosa at Lago Laceno and leads Remco Evenepoel by 28 seconds, Aurélien Paret-Peintre by 30 — one breakaway has rearranged the whole top of the Giro. Today runs 171 kilometres from Atripalda: the Passo Serra early for whoever wants to go up the road, then a long drop to the Tyrrhenian and a flat run along the Gulf of Salerno. Binda and Coppi have both won on this finish.

How it was won

  1. 7 km to go

    Chaos in the wet

The last corner of a miserable, rain-lashed day sends Alpecin's trio sliding out; Groves, Gaviria and Ackermann all hit the deck, and Evenepoel later falls again.

  2. At the line

    Salerno

Recovered from his own crash, Kaden Groves goes long down the barriers from 200 metres and holds off Milan and Pedersen for his first Giro win.
