How it was won

  1. 70 km to go

    Alaphilippe crests the Tourmalet

On the spectacular Tourmalet the polka-dot jersey again takes maximum points as the leaders come together for the run to the final two climbs.

  2. 41 km to go

    The GC attacks begin

Kruijswijk opens a gap over the Col des Bordères and Dumoulin launches, marked by Roglič and Thomas; Quintana's overall hopes crack and fall away.

  3. 20 km to go

    Roglič blasts up the Aubisque

With two kilometres of climbing left in the whole Tour, Roglič decides it is now or never and blasts across to Landa and Bardet in the mist of the Col d'Aubisque, the maillot jaune group scrambling to respond.

  4. 8 km to go

    A fearless descent

Roglič hurls himself down the sinuous Aubisque descent, carving out the seconds he needs for the podium as Dumoulin shadows him at a safe distance.

  5. At the line

    Roglič wins in Laruns

The former ski-jumper soloes into Laruns for a superb win and vaults onto the virtual podium, bumping Froome down to fourth.
