At the start

Bastille Day, flat to Amiens

Dylan Groenewegen broke the Gaviria–Sagan duopoly in the shadow of Chartres cathedral. Greg Van Avermaet keeps yellow six seconds up on Geraint Thomas, with Quick-Step still packing the top six. Today is 181 flat kilometres from Dreux to Amiens on the fourteenth of July — Arnaud Démare's home roads — and it is the last simple day before the cobbles.

How it was won

  1. 91 km to go

    A doomed break

Grellier and Minnaard build a six-minute lead, but with the sprinters' teams marshalling the bunch the escape is never a real threat.

  2. At the line

    Groenewegen makes it two

Groenewegen jumps perfectly in Amiens for a second win in as many days; Greipel and Gaviria cross behind him but are later relegated.
