At the start

Into the Pyrenees at last

Caleb Ewan won in Toulouse after being forced to a dead stop ten kilometres out, and nothing moved above him: Alaphilippe in yellow, Thomas at 1:12, Bernal at 1:16. Niki Terpstra has abandoned. The mountains start today — 209 kilometres to Bagnères-de-Bigorre over the Peyresourde and then the rarely used Hourquette d'Ancizan, whose summit carries eight bonus seconds and sits thirty-three from the line.

   Over the Peyresourde

   Calmejane attacks the break on the Peyresourde but Wellens sprints past at the summit for the mountains points; the sprinters sit up, their day done.

2. 233 km to go

   Yates attacks the Ancizan

   On the final climb of the Hourquette d'Ancizan the moves fly — Trentin leads, then Simon Yates bridges with Mühlberger before dropping his own teammate, cresting first with 33km to go.

   Yates wins in Bagnères

   The trio of Yates, Bilbao and Mühlberger stay clear to the line, where Simon Yates has the fastest kick in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.
