A flat day, and the Mistral
Prat d'Albis pulled everybody closer to the yellow jersey: Thomas at 1:35, Kruijswijk at 1:47, Pinot at 1:50, Bernal at 2:02, and Alaphilippe still somehow in front of the lot of them. Today is a loop out of Nîmes and back, 177 kilometres over the Pont du Gard, the sprinters' last real chance before Paris. If the Mistral gets up, it will not stay a sprinters' day for long.

Fuglsang's Tour ends
With crosswind tension crackling through the bunch, Jakob Fuglsang crashes in the shade of the roadside trees; a race doctor overrules his protests and the ninth-placed Dane is taken to an ambulance.

Ewan doubles up in Nîmes
The five-man break is swept up with 2.5km to go and, in a tricky headwind sprint, Caleb Ewan comes from behind to beat Viviani and Groenewegen for his second stage.
