At the start

Bernal in yellow, one climb left

The Iseran changed the Tour: Bernal took forty-five seconds and the yellow jersey off Alaphilippe before hail and a landslide at Tignes stopped the stage and froze the times at the summit. Thomas is third at 1:11, Kruijswijk fourth at 1:23. Thibaut Pinot is gone, a torn thigh muscle ending his race in tears. The last mountain day has been cut short by the same weather: only Val Thorens survives.

How it was won

  1. 39 km to go

    The break gains ground

On the shortened stage a strong move with Nibali, Zakarin and Woods gains 2:30 through the valley to Moûtiers before the sole climb of Val Thorens looms.

  2. 17 km to go

    Porte pops

On the long final drag to Val Thorens Jumbo-Visma drive for Kruijswijk's podium bid, and Richie Porte is the first big GC name distanced with 16.5km to go.

  3. 6 km to go

    A late GC flurry

Six kilometres from the line Yates, Barguil and the Movistar pair of Quintana and Soler dart clear, but Mühlberger quickly snuffs it out for Buchmann.

  4. At the line

    Nibali saves Bahrain's Tour

Vincenzo Nibali holds thirty seconds to win atop Val Thorens, while Bernal and Thomas cross hand-in-hand with the title all but sealed and Alaphilippe slips from second to fifth.
