The road

At the start

Grand Colombier, then a rest day

Roglič leads Pogačar by 44 seconds and Bernal by 59, with Urán and Quintana just over a minute back; the podium belongs to nobody yet. Pierre Latour has abandoned. Today the race climbs into the Jura — the Selle de Fromentel, the Col de la Biche, and finally the Grand Colombier, seventeen kilometres of it, hosting a summit finish for the first time. There is a rest day on the other side.

   Jumbo drill the Fromentel

   On the steep Montee de la Selle de Fromentel Jumbo-Visma ride like a team time trial, Carapaz and Amador dropped from Ineos and the first cracks showing in Bernal.

2. 246 km to go

   Relentless over the Biche

   Jumbo keep the throttle open over the Col de la Biche, the yellow jersey group whittled down as the break's Rolland and Gogl dangle out front.

3. 313 km to go

   Bernal cracks

   On the lacets of the Grand Colombier, 13km out, Van Aert's pace is too much and the defending champion Egan Bernal shakes his head and slips away - his title defence is over.

4. 46 km to go

   Down to twelve

   With 5.8km to climb just twelve remain: Roglič, Pogačar, Dumoulin, Kuss, Yates, Porte, Mas, Valverde, Landa, López, Urán and Bilbao, the Tour distilled to its strongest men.

5. 51 km to go

   Attacks inside the last kilometre

   Inside the final 600m Roglič, Porte and López throw everything they have left at one another, hunting the bonus seconds on a road that has almost run out of mountain.

6. 6At the line

   Pogačar takes the Grand Colombier

   Pogačar produces the decisive kick and wins atop the Grand Colombier just ahead of Roglič, clawing back a handful of seconds as Bernal loses over seven minutes and the race becomes a Slovenian duel.
